After a busy holiday season we’re ready to get some activities up and running for IxDA Lansing 2011! The steering committee has been hard at work planning out events and meetings for the year and I think we have some really great stuff lined up for you. We’ll be kicking it all off with a engaging UX critique workshop with Mid-Michigan UX pro, Davin Granroth, at the newly opened Second Gear Coworking in Old Town Lansing!

Special Guest: Davin Granroth, User Experience Manager at Covenant Eyes, Inc.
Davin Granroth is the User Experience Manager for Covenant Eyes, Inc. in Owosso, Michigan. He got his start in the field in the mid-90s by helping students and faculty learn how to write better for the web. Since then he’s worked on hundreds of web design projects, led web design and UX teams, and has taught seminars on design, information architecture, and other fun topics.
Davin will lead us through an overview of UX design critique basics before breaking out into groups to get hands-on practice performing a professional UX review for a website. If you have a website in mind that you’d like to critique feel free to suggest it to the group, otherwise we’ll have several to choose from. We’ll conclude the session by sharing ideas and observations from each group about the process and the pages reviewed.
UPDATE: If you have UX or UI work that you’d like critiqued by the group, bring it with you! Davin suggests printing out your design, with multiple pages for multiple interactions or design variations. A great opportunity to get some valuable professional feedback for free!
